Report by Dave Green:
I was not down to play today (either for Remnants or Woozlers), but in the first over Ryan Bridger of Woozlers dove onto the hard field at mid-on trying to stop a drive, and broke his collar bone. This put a bit of a damper on the game, as he was clearly in serious pain. Various rearrangements were put in place: Ryan was slinged and took off to A&E by the Woozlers' (initial) keeper; due to the lost time the game was reduced from 15 to 12 8-ball overs; I put on my whites and took the field for Woozlers (who I have played for before), as did TK. One of Woozlers players who was a bit late, turned up in the second over, after the delay sending Ryan off to A&E. They then took the gloves from the third over, making it three keepers in three overs!
Kanwar Singh and Nick Johnson got Remnants off to a good start, putting on 71 for the first wicket in 7.3 overs. Kanwar was out first for 43, although it could easily have been more. One of Kanwar's powerful shots was lofted straight to a fielder on the boundary at deep cover. Kanwar and Nick stopped mid-wicket to see if it would be caught by the fielder . . . it was, almost, but parried forward, then nearly caught again, then finally dropped. The single was completed, but two was definitely possible without the mid-pitch sight-seeing.
But after that Remnants progress was limited by Bridger, but not Ryan who was in the queue at A&E, but son Jonty, who took three wickets bowled and a sharp catch at mid-wicket. The final total was 96, exactly a run a ball, which looked below par given the very fast outfield and the initial partnership.
And so it proved, with Woozlers knocking off the total in just 8.1 overs, with TK opening for Woozlers, and finishing 48 not out.
