Report by Daniel Mortlock:
The annual Remnants vs. Remnants game is the focus of the season. The date is set months in advance, and usually set to be as close to the solstice as possible, both to facillitate a long-format game and guarantee nice mid-summer weather. All of which was made to look pretty silly by the fact that four of our last games were washed out without a ball bowled. It briefly seemed like the cricket gods would smile on us today, with the BBC morning forecast pretty clear; but by mid-afternoon the forecast was bad, and even worse it was correct. The one compensation was that, with the help of Faruk's on-site reports, we were able to at least prevent people making wasted journeys to the ground. With a full fixture list there's no obvious slot to reschedule today's internal match, so it looks like the President's XI game on July 30 is the date to put in your diary.
