Report by Russell Woolf:
Having won the toss the County Council decided to have a bat.
Joe White and Ben Stone opened the bowling and were rewarded with being both economical and a wicket each. After 5 (eight-ball) overs the Council were in danger of "losing their deposit" with a score of 17/2, but spirited resistance from Ruszala (36) and Jakes (30*) took the final total to 101/6. Faruk Kara, Naveen Chouksey, and Andrew Celsus toiled for little or no reward during this time being well supported by everybody in the field, but the bowling performance of the evening went to Richard Rex with figures of 3/27 from his 2 overs. It could be said that he bought his wickets, but he enticed two Council batsmen out of their ground only to be sent back to the pavillion by Tom Davidson's stumpings. Richard's third wicket was a well taken return catch which appeared to be floating over his head but, Richard had it covered with a good diving catch.
Unfortunately 101 was realistically never going to be enough, and so it proved with James Crozier (60* off 39 balls), Aditya Jain (23* off 26 balls) cutting, pulling and driving their way to 103/0 in just 9 overs. With 9 batsmen with DNB by their names it ment that Remnants had won by a margin of 10 wickets and, perhaps more importantly, had our first victory of the season.
