Report by Daniel Mortlock:
A Remnants innings containing scores of 1 (off 2 balls), 4 (off 10 balls), 2 (off 4 balls), 5 (off 5 balls), 0 (off 1 ball) and 4 (off 7 balls) was suggestive of a disastrous collapse, but in fact we made a very healthy early-season total of 139/7. There were precisely two reasons for this: a top innings by Julius Rix (52 off 41 balls); and an even better one by Jeff Beaumont (55* off 38 balls).
We seemed a pretty good chance to defend our total, as Faruk Kara (0/15), Alec Armstrong (1/14) and Julius (1/14) kept the Romsey top order in check, and after 9 (eight-ball) overs they were just 60/2, and needed 80 off 48 balls. Critically, however, that second wicket had brought super-sub Dave Norman to the crease, and he proceeded to smash 54* off just 26 balls, and rather than scoring 80 from 48, Romsey actually hit 81 from 37, the winning runs coming with 11 balls to spare.
