The plan was that, at precisely 6pm this evening, eleven neatly turned-out Remnants would stride out into blazing sunshine to take on the might of Selwyn College II. The reality was ever so slightly different: at precisely 6pm most of the selected Remnants were half-heartedly making their way to the ground, being beaten back by solid drizzle as they tried to find their way through the maze of streets and lanes that criss-cross Newnham to the Selwyn/Kings ground. Most people did find their way to the ground in the end, although it didn't do them much good -- the match was quickly called off. That left Geoff and the tragic trio of Daniel, Andy and John (with a grand total of no wins and fourteen losses between them before today) to find a venue to celebrate the fact that, for a change, we didn't lose.
