2004 annual general meeting

The 2004 Remnants CC annual general meeting was held at the Fitzwilliam College Cricket Ground bar on the evening of Thursday, February 26, 2004. The turn out of just seven members was disappointing, to say the least, but those present did there best to ensure the club's smooth running continued for another season. An executive summary follows.

Finances

• The treasurer reported that the club had GBP1163.47 in the bank.
• The ground hire charge will rise to GBP25 in the coming season, but there is no need to raise match fees or subscriptions.
• Net fees have risen to GBP2.00.

Equipment

• The kit will replaced on an ongoing basis, but members are encouraged to provide their own bats, gloves, pads and (especially) boxes. Moreover please pack carefully and respect the club kit when it is used.
• Progress is being made on the sightscreen which we aim to provide for the Huntingdon Road end of the ground.

Training

• Nets continue at the Leys School from 6pm to 7pm on Tuesday evenings.
• Dave Norman will attend to watch and offer advise on the 6th and 20th of April.

Fixtures

• Matches will be mostly on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
• Eearly- and late-season games will be shortened to avoid injuries and abandonments.
• To mark the 25th year of the club there will be three matches in the last week of June (specifically the 23rd, 24th and 25th) to which former members will be invited.
• There is to be a six-a-side tournament for charity on Bank Holiday Monday (May 31) which we will enter and help to run.

Members

• Paul Evans and Steve Attmore were invited to join and several others were asked to nets. We still need existing members to encourage friends to join.
• Dave Norman was elected an honourary member.

Committee

• Dave Williams is captain and Daniel Mortlock vice-captain, with Geoff Hales and Phil Watson continuing as secretary and treasurer, respectively.
• When neither captain nor vice-captain is available, the captaincy for the night will be offered in the first instance to a member who has not captained before.
