The trek out to Downing's ground (near Addenbrooke's) was a bit too much for some, and the resultant late start guaranteed another dark finish. The match was remarkably similar to the previous day's, with very tight bowling from Les Collings (1/6 and a couple of near stumpings off 3 eight-ball overs), Tony Malik and Rupert Brown keeping Downing to just 88 (and it looked like being even less).
Once again what should have been a fairly trivial run chase had its scary moments with a mid-innings (predominantly) caught-and-bowled collapse. We all breathed a sigh of relief when captain Phil Watson finally clubbed the winnings runs in the last over.
