My favourite memory of Geoff was from this game against what was a pretty weak Fitz side. We were around 180 or so with an over to go and Geoff was bouncing excitedly around as we were approaching the all-time record Remnants total. I was batting and going well, and with a couple of sweetly timed cover drives got us past the record. As we walked off to the usual ripple of applause, Sally checked the scores to make sure it was a club record; in the process, it was realised that my contribution to the record was 102 not out! But Geoff was more excited that a club record had been broken . . . [whereas Phil's individual score was only the second highest, being one less than Clarke Brunt managed back in '84.. - ed.]
