Despite the efforts of Andy Brown (3/21), Clarke Brunt and Tony Williams (both 1/17), The Spread Eagle scored pretty freely, averaging more than 7 an over for their innings. It was thus the last thing on anyone's mind that we'd canter to our first ever first ever ten-wicket victory. Clarke (77*) and Martin Law (60*) scored the runs, putting together the club's biggest ever partnership in the process. But do spare a thought for Alan Heavens, due to come in at number three, who thus became the first Remnant to spend the entire innings padded up and "next in".
